How do you create a digital experience for a young target group that is constantly working online? To serve this target group, Talent This Way opted for a portal. We sat down with consultant contracts Franciska Westenborg and marketer Rogier de Keiser who were responsible for this switch.
Talent This Way helps students find the best internship. “Talent This Way is a job broker platform where organizations can post internship vacancies and where students can find internships. Talent This Way initially started from Mediastages. Since Mediastages focused on the creative industry, it needed a broader name, and Talent This Way was born,” Franciska explains.
When Talent This Way started in 2020, the intermediary wanted to excel in their digital experience for their clients and candidates. The average software they were using, such as their ATS, fell short in this regard. With an internship platform, it is crucial that everything is as simple and digital as possible for clients and candidates. “Especially when you have such a young, digital target group like ours,” Rogier explains.
“We wanted to excel in the market with a digital experience. When you want an exceptional digital experience, you need more than the standard mix of recruitment technology that most agencies use. When we started in 2020, too much was still done manually. For example, clients had to submit new job postings by email, and then we had to manually enter them into our recruitment system.
Our customers couldn’t put in all the job data we needed for our website.” It wasn’t an easy way for students to work either, Rogier says. “Our candidates could apply through the website, but couldn’t look back at their application, nor did they have insight into the progress of their application process.”
In the quest to address this and make the recruitment process easier for both sides, Talent This Way came across Minggo, no code software to specifically create recruitment portals and apps. “In a short time, Minggo created two portals, one for clients and one for students, that we could edit and further personalize ourselves. We didn’t want static portals as you mostly know them today. We wanted a solution that gave us control, that we can adjust and improve whenever we want.” It was also important that the candidate and client portal were realized quickly, which cannot be achieved with a custom project.
The portals are a significant improvement for clients and students, Franciska explains. “Via computer or phone, clients and students can control everything through their own personalized portal.” Candidates can update and keep their profile information up-to-date in their portal.
Furthermore, Talent This Way also offers its interns a convenient overview of all open internship positions. Candidates get more information about the vacancy and the offer on a detail page and can apply immediately.
“For us, it is a great advantage that applications no longer have to be followed up manually. Candidates get an overview of all their current applications in their portal and can immediately follow up on their status. For example, they can immediately see for which vacancy they have been invited for an interview and for which vacancy their application has been rejected. That makes everything very transparent,” Franciska says.
Not only is everything much faster for the trainees but many digital steps have also been taken for the client. For example, after logging in, the client gets to see a dashboard showing the number of candidates still to be assessed. Where previously clients mailed all vacancies manually, in Minggo, they can now upload and modify vacancies themselves. In addition, the client gets an overview of all proposed candidates, where a personal message can be sent to the candidate immediately. All from within the portal.
The portals also save recruiters a lot of time. “The big advantage is that recruiters no longer have to enter almost any data into the recruitment system themselves. Because everything that candidates and clients enter into their portals flows automatically into the ATS. When we used to organize internship fairs and expect about two hundred job openings, we had to enter them into the ATS one by one. This now runs fully automated.”
The focus on the digital experience makes Talent This Way unique in its industry. The duo remains ambitious, as the market is evolving and Talent This Way wants to be at the forefront of this. “In the future, we also want to take care of the administrative part around internships and the payment of interns for our clients. For this purpose, Minggo’s portals will be further developed. This way, the client can register the hired intern with us for compensation, and the student can upload his internship documents in the portal.”
